 Peer Muhammad Karam Shah Sahib
Al Azhari
Zavia was founded with the permission and prayers of the renowned contemporary intellectual and spiritual guide Hazrat Zia-ul-Ummah Justice Pir Muhammad Karam Shah Al-azhari. He was born in 1921 in Bhera Sharif a town in Punjab (Pakistan). His family belonged to the line of famous sufi saint Hazrat Baha-ud-Din Zakria of Multan. The founder Astana Alia (Sufi Centre or Khanqah) Bhera Sharif was Hazrat Pir Ameer Shah (1837 AD-December 1927 AD) who was disciple of Hazrat Khawaja Shams-ud-Din Sialvi in Chistia Nizamia Order. After the demise of Hazrat Pir Ameer Shah, his son Muhammad Shah took his seat (spiritual office). In 1957 AD, Pir Muhammad Karam Shah, the elder son of Muhammad Shah, took his seat. He got his early education at Bhera Sharif. After completing Dars-e-Nizami (a course for muslim scholers), he earned Fazil Arabi and graduation degrees from The University of Punjab. He got Ijazah in Hadith (Dora Hadith) from a renowned scholar of his times Hazrat Naeem-ud-Din of Murad Abad. Later he went to Jamia Al-azhar (Al-azhar University) in Cairo (Eygpt) where he did MA honours in Islamic Law. There he was a disciple of renowned scholar Abu Zahra and other great scholars of the time. His father Muhammad Shah had founded Dar-ul-Uloom Muhammadia Ghosia in 1925 in bhera Sharif. In 1957Ad, Pir Muhammad Karam Shah re-constituted the institution on new foundations. He added modern education in the curriculum of the institution. Now this Dar-ul-Uloom is one the important institutions of the Paikistan. Its branches are working all over the world. Thousands of scholars are produced in these institutions, who are working in the service of knowledge all over the world. Pir Sahib was a prolific writer. His commentary on Quran,Tafseer Zia-ul-Quran, Sirah Zia-un-Nabi and Sunnat-e-Khair_ul-Anam are very popular and significant books. He founded a monthly Zia-e-Haram in 1970 AD, which is regularly published till date. His services a judge in Federal Sharia Court and justice in Supreme Court Sharia Bench are well acknowledged. In Tariqah (spiritual training) he was disciple of Hazrat Khawja Zia-ud-Din Sialvi in Chishti Nizami Order. He was later initiated in order at the hand of Hazrat Khawja Qamr-ud-Din Silavi and got Ijazah (permission to initiate disciples in Order) from him. He revived the dying traditions of Sufi orders and restored the intellectual identity of Sufi centres. He was perfect image of the Sufi Masters of early centuries of Islam. Peer sahib said “When Knowledge becomes a practice and when you walk the talk, it is called Tasawuf”.
 
    
 HAZRAT PEER MUHAMMAD AMIN-UL-HASANAT SHAH
 
Hazrat Pir Muhammad Amin-ul-Hasanat Shah Sahib is his son and predecessor. His personality is true image of his great father. His vision, commitment to mission, steadfastness, and hard work reflects his father’s training teachings. Like his great father he patrons Zavia Foundation and its aims and objectives. He was born in 1951 AD in Bhera Sharif. After receiving early education there he joined his father’s Dar-ul-Uloom and completed Islamic Education there. Later he did graduation at Government College Lahore and MA in Arabic from The University of The Punjab. Afterwards he did MA in Islamic Law from Umm-ul-Qura University Makkah. After completing his education he was appointed Principal of Dar-ul-Uloom Muhammadia Ghousia and the editor Monthly Zia-e-Haram. After his father he is the of the institutions founded by Zia-ul-Ummah. Hundreds of institutions are working under him for the propagation of Islam.
